2 suggestions on the table vd_CalYrTxnDate:
1) can you either and an additional column or format column "CalYr Txn Date Month Number" with a leading zero for single digit months. this would help with sorting.
2) can you add a column for date formated in this manner : Year-MM with single digit months having the leading zero.
Date formats, we leave to the application you are programming in.
Month Number - you can alphabetize one column by another in Excel, PowerPivot, and Power BI.
Month Number is integer, so it should order as a number. If Excel sees it as a string, then yes, Excel sorts according to ascii character nomenclature.
