Multi-User Update on a Local Network

Overview

IMPORTANT: This guide only covers a multi-user upgrade in a traditional local network and workstation configuration.  If you are hosting QQube in a remote desktop or hosted environment, then you must use the special guide we have for that environment. 

There are two steps to this operation:

1. Installing the update on the server, which upgrades the QQube database
2. Installing the update on each workstation, which upgrades the QQube client components.

STEP [1] - Server Update

If you followed our implementation instructions for a local network environment, you would have installed the multi-user server portion under the admin console.  You will need to login to the admin console and open up the QQube Configuration Tool:

Open Up the QQube Configuration Tool and navigate to "About QQube".

Starts the download process:

The initial screen:

Checking for licensing status and previous version to uninstall.

This window will only appear if your yearly subscription has expired, with instructions to purchase an upgrade license. If you do not purchase an upgrade license, the installation will stop.

Clicking OK will get the licensing screen for you to enter your new License ID and Password. 

Upon License activation, the update process will continue with the licensing agreement:

This will default to Multi-User Edition - SERVER 

NOTE: If it defaults to Multi-User Edition - CLIENT, it means that the QuickBooks client is not installed on the server.

If Excel is not installed (which is normal on a non-remote desktop server), then this option will be greyed out.

This is the default installation folder, and should not be changed.

The following window will begin the file copy and component installation.

Your existing database will automatically be updated to the current version and structure:

Installation Finish:

IMPORTANT LAST ACTION:  Perform a manual refresh to make your data available for use

STEP [2] - Workstation/Client Update

You MUST have local administrative rights to perform this operation.  Do NOT right click and "Run as Administrator".

The second step will update the workstation/client components on each workstation.

First, you will need to download and save the version you need on the workstation - and can be used on every workstation:  Latest QQube Download

The next two screens may need to be adjusted, as the installation does not auto-detect the existing installation type.

QQube will attempt to find the database on the network and return the following screen:
