Creating a Static Parameter

Let's use the sales_(qqube10.x).rpt example and create a static parameter - a Date Range.  Highlight the Parameter Fields in the Field Explorer, right click, then click New

Here are the initial options:

Create the following options: 

For Name, type in Date Range; Type = Date; List of Values = Static
  

There is no Value Field, or static list of values.

Value Options:  Change Allow range values from False to True (yes, we WOULD like to pick from a range of dates).

What the options mean:

• Show on (Viewer) Panel. Allows you to change the parameter in preview mode without having to re-run the whole report
• Prompt Text. What you want the user to see when they see this parameter
• Prompt with Description Only.  If you create a list with both the item and the description, then only the description would show to the user.
• Optional Prompt. For cascading Parameters
• Default Value. If you have a static list of items, then what you want to show by default (e.g. ‘Yes’ in a Yes,No list)
• Allow custom values.  Allows you to type in a value other than what is in the static list. (Not available in a Dynamic Range)
• Allow multiple values.  Whether you can choose multiple items in the list
• Allow discrete values.  Whether you can choose just one item
• Allow range values.  E.g. choose from A thru J.

Click OK when done, and it will appear in the Parameter Fields list.
