Once you create a parameter, you need to do one of two things:
If you see that there are no 'green checks' to the left of the Parameter names, then they are not being used within the report.
We are assuming we created a Date Range parameter from the instructions on how to create a static parameter. Let's now create a filter prompt for the date range:
Find CalYr Txn Date and click OK.
Then choose is equal to in the first drop down, and {?Date Range} in the second drop down list. This has an effect of saying: “We will pick the items that have a date falling within the Date Range that we choose.” Click OK when done.
When we refresh the report, the prompt will appear as follows:
We are assuming we created a Customer parameter from the instructions on how to create a dynamic parameter. Let's now create a filter prompt for the customers.
Click on New to add a second parameter:
Find the Field Customer Name, and click OK.
Select is equal to , in the first drop down, and {?Customers} in the second drop down list. This has an effect of saying: “We will choose the customers that fall within the ones that we choose.”
Refreshing the report (F5), the prompt(s) will appear as follows:
