QQube Requirements

This How-To Guide is for QQube Versions 5.x

This is a desktop and/or server application and extracts data from:

• QuickBooks Pro
• QuickBooks Premiere
• Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions
• QuickBooks Accountant Editions

US Versions 2014 and later (including current year 2018)

2014 thru current year for Canadian, UK, and Multi-currency versions

2015 thru current year for New Zealand version

QuickBooks Enterprise Release Requirements

• Enterprise 2014 - Minimum Patch Release 7 (R7).  R6 is NOT ok and contains bugs, Patch Releases R11 and later contain the new Intuit security features.
• Enterprise 2015 - Minimum Release 4 (R4); Patch Releases R10 and later are recommended and contain the new security features
• Enterprise 2016 - Release 1 is ok; R7 and later is recommended as new security features have been added; 
• Enterprise 2017 - Must be on Current Release
• Enterprise 2018 - Current Release is ok

QQube Technology Requirements

• Desktop Operating System - Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2003, 2008&R2, 2011, 2012&R2; 23 and 64 bit OK, Windows Server 2016
• CPU - Pentium 3.0GHz bare minimum; Intel Core Duo/Quad better; I3,5,7 excellent
• Memory - 1 Gig Minimum for Single-User, 2 Gig Minimum Recommended for Multi-User; 3 Gig+ Better
• Hard Drive Space - 150MB available hard drive space. Additional space needed for the QQube database - up to 2 Gig+ per company
• .NET Framework - Version 4 required

NOTE: The larger the QuickBooks file, the more horsepower is needed.

QQube Single-User Installation Requirements

• Administrative Permissions for the workstation or laptop
• Does not connect to a network where another implementation of QQube exists.  (There can only be one QQube engine on a single network at a time)

NOTE:  You cannot install a Single-User version of QQube on a server, or in a hosted environment.  A Multi-User edition is required for those cases.

QQube Multi-User Installation Requirements (Server environment, NO Terminal Services)

• Client version of QuickBooks MUST be installed on server. The client version of QuickBooks MUST be installed ON THE SERVER at the console.  Intuit does not have a mechanism to allow third party applications to run as a service when communicating with QuickBooks, and Intuit doesn't allow any developer to talk directly to the database.
• Multi-User Server portion requires that the console remains running or locked - In order for the QuickBooks client (QBW32.EXE) to run, the console CANNOT be logged off.  If the console session is closed, then QuickBooks cannot run, and therefore QQube cannot communicate with it, and extract any data.
• Port 2638 Available  - This port and Sybase engine will automatically be configured during the installation process

QQube REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES/TERMINAL SERVICES Installation Requirements

• Multi-User Server portion needs a dedicated, always running, server user for synchronizing QuickBooks to QQube  - We mandate creating a windows server user called "QQubeSynch" with administrative rights that will be used for the QQube Synchronization, and which will always be running.  The time out property, for when this windows server user called QQubeSynch is logged in, must be set to 'never'. Microsoft Instructions for setting the time out property to "never"
• Client Version of QuickBooks MUST be installed under the dedicated server user - The client version of QuickBooks MUST be installed under the windows server user called "QQubeSynch" so it can run in that session. The QuickBooks client (QBW32.EXE) will run in this session to communicate with QQube - per Intuit requirements.
• Port 2638 Available - This port and Sybase engine will automatically be configured during the installation process
• Multi-User Client portion installation -  Installed using the Administrative Console server user via Control Panel > Programs and Features

Multi-Company Requirements

• You can combine,mix, aggregate any QQube supported QuickBooks files as indicated at the top of this wiki.
• Trial Version - is fully functional and has no limitations
• Paid Versions

  • Add-On for up to 100 QuickBooks Company Files

QQube Excel Add-In Requirements

• Excel 2007 and above.  2010,2013,2016,365 Both 32 bit and 64 bit Excel are supported.  64 bit Excel is encouraged.
• Excel PowerPivot.  Excel 2010 (available as free download from Microsoft), Excel 2013 (Professional Plus Edition only), Excel 2016 (Professional, Professional Plus, Excel Standalone) and Excel 365 (Office 365 ProPlus Edition, E3, E4)

Third Party Analytic Tool Requirements

• Microsoft Access - 2007 and above. The examples in the QQube Configuration Tool are built in 2007.
• SAP Crystal Reports - 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016. The examples in the QQube Configuration Tool are built with the 2008 version.
• Tableau - Versions 8.x and above.
• Microsoft Power BI - Current Version (Updates are monthly from Microsoft)
