Install QQube 5.x Multi-User on Remote Desktop | CLEARIFY

Remote Desktop Services (Formerly Terminal Services)

This How-To Guide is for QQube Versions 5.x

This method of installation is in full compliance with the requirements imposed by Intuit for this type of sever environment.

REQUIREMENTS

• Read the latest requirements document covering QuickBooks releases, and hardware/software specs.
• Dedicated server user, always running, with administrative rights. for synchronizing QuickBooks to QQube  If the session closes for any reason, then QuickBooks Client (see next step) cannot run, and QQube cannot commnicate with it, and extract the data. Microsoft Instructions for setting the time out property to "never".
• A Client version of QuickBooks MUST be installed under the dedicated server user (and registered). This will allow QQube to communicate with QuickBooks.

INSTALLATION IS FIRST STEP OF 7 (One Optional)

1. While logged into the:dedicated server user created above (Do NOT use the Change user /install): 
   1. Install the Multi-User Server portion
   2. Setup the QuickBooks users. Create QuickBooks Connection Users For QQube
   3. Prepare your QuickBooks Data  QuickBooks Preparation Checklist
   4. Run the 5.x Configuration Tool Wizard. QQube 5.x Configuration Tool Wizard
   5. (Optional) Add multiple companies QuickBooks Multi-Company Setup in QQube 5.x
   6. (Recommended) Create a script that the dedicated user automatically gets logged in upon a server reboot.
2. While logged into the administrative console
   1. Use an Administrator Command Prompt to run "Change user /install" and then "Change User /Execute" (see step-by-step instructions below)
   2. Install the Multi-User Client Portion

The dedicated server user used for synching only.  Nobody should log into that session to run reports, only check on issues that involve direct communication with QuickBooks and QQube.

INSTALLATION STEP BY STEP

***Multi-User Server Install***

You will log into the dedicated server user you created above (not the administrative console or "change user /Install"), and install the Mult-User sever portion.

The Multi-User server portion of this install will see three components installed

1. QQube Database
2. QQube Synchronizer Tool
3. QQube Configuration Tool

IMPORTANT: Versions 5.1 and later will auto set the correct firewall permissions.  Earlier versions, you will need to add the following application to the windows firewall: C:\Program Files (x86)\CLEARIFY\QQube Tool\SQL Anywhere 12\BIN64\dbsrv12.exe  (BIN32 for 32 bit operating systems)

IMPORTANT ALSO for Remote Desktop Services/Terminal Services:   Ensure that within this dedicated user session, the Synchronizer Session is checked ( via the Configuration Tool).  This should NOT be checked on any other user installation on the server.

QQube 5.6x users:

***Multi-User Client Install***

Login to the administrator console for this portion of the installation. Do NOT perform this part of the installation logged in to the dedicated server user as you did for the Multi-user Server above.

• If using Server Windows Server 2003, 2008 you can Install using the "Install Application on Terminal Server" / "Install Application on Remote Destkop") tool in the Control Panel>Programs and Features.  
• For for all versions thru Windows Server 2012  you can Run "Change user /install" from the command prompt to install and then run "Change User /Execute" command when complete (shown below).

The following components get installed:

1. QQube Configuration Tool (Allowing the user to control dates and manual refresh options)
2. Two ODBC DSN's (QQube Financials, QQube User)
3. Excel Add-In (for 2007 and above, 32-bit and 64-bit)

QQube will attempt to find the database on the server:

Version 5.6x and later users should see the QQube Database listed in the box:

IMPORTANT checkpoint:  Ensure that the Sycnhronizer Session and Database Manager is UNchecked for each user in the Configuration Tool.
