The following message exists in the Synchronization Log:
This error comes directly from the Intuit Software Development Kit (SDK) and indicates that it is unable to communicate with the requested QuickBooks file because a modal window needs to be dismissed before it can continue.
This works, just as if you were opening up QuickBooks manually - you would be unable to use the program, until you had dismissed the modal window in front of you.
Common modal windows:
If you are using the Mult-User version of QQube, this can only occur where the physical synch between QQube and QuickBooks is taking place - where you installed the multi-user server portion.
EXAMPLES
Internet Security Levels:
QuickBooks Update Service
Modify Report:
QuickBooks Preferences:
Modal windows MUST be closed before QQube can communicate with QuickBooks.
QuickBooks Advertisements. You can shut this off within QuickBooks: Solved: How to stop popups? (intuit.com)
Internet Security Levels Warning. This is fixed with this Intuit KB Article.
QuickBooks Update Service. You should apply the update, but can get around this warning in a QQube environment with multiple companies, by simply leaving QB open to NO company file.
Modify Report. If you using a Single-User copy of QQube then just close the Modify Report modal window. If you see this on the Multi-User Server QQube installation, then make sure this setting is Unchecked under the QQube user:
Edit Preferences. Close the modal window.
QuickBooks Update Service. If you have a multi-user version of QuickBooks, our strong suggestion is to leave QB open to NO company file. If you do then this update service will only appear if the server is rebooted, and QuickBooks is opened again.
The best thing to do in a multi-user operation is to physically login to the synch session, and watch the synch kick off. The offending window that prevents QQube from talking to QuickBooks will become obvious.
If you do not see any errors when logging and watching the process, there is only one other reason, that this would occur:
How this happens.. There are several reasons why this would have occurred.
What happens in either of these cases is that you have more than one synchronizer running, thus confusing the QQube synch process.
Resolution You need to uninstall from the person who originally installed QQube under their name - ensuring that they have administrative rights for the uninstall process (do not right click and "Run as Administrator") Then reinstall under the either the dedicated synch user in a multi-user environment, or the desired user on a workstation in a single-user environment.
