Instructions for QQube Version 6.x remote desktop install
Instructions for QQube Version 5.x remote desktop install
PRE-INSTALL REQUIREMENTS
The dedicated server user is used for synching only. Nobody should log into that session to run reports; only check on issues that involve direct communication with QuickBooks and QQube.
INSTALLATION CHOICES
Login to the dedicated server user you created above to install the Multi-User server portion. Do not install the multi-user server portion at the administrative console or invoke the "change user /Install".
You MUST be logged in with administrative rights. Do NOT use the "Run as Administrator" option.
The Multi-User server portion installs three major components
It will always default to - and install - the multi-user Server option. A single-user is not allowed to be installed on a server, as a dedicated user exists to synch (auto or manual) without interrupting QuickBooks users.
This has changed significantly from QQube versions 5.x and earlier
Login to the administrative console
STEP 1. PLACE SHORTCUTS ON THE CLIENT'S DESKTOP
The QQube Configuration Tool Shortcut Properties (Details Tab) should show that the folder path is for the specific user:
The QQube Configuration Tool for the client will allow the user access to the following:
The client will NOT be able to:
The .VSTO will install the Excel Add-In. They need to have Excel closed when performing this process, and Group Policies need to allow Excel COM Add-Ins.
When you login as one of the checked QQube users you should note that the QQube Configuration Tool does not have Synchronizer and Database Manager options.
Clients having synchronizer / database manger checked is the number one cause of synch errors in this environment. QQube Version 7.x eliminates this possibility.
STEP 2. SHORTCUTS FOR SERVER REBOOTS
There will be times that the server will reboot for scheduled - or unscheduled - reasons.
