Founder, President and CEO
Early Accounting and Technology Experience
Chuck began his accounting career in 1977 as a branch controller for Ben E. Keith Co. in Dallas. He helped migrate manual accounting systems to mainframe computers and used his Accredited Personnel credentials to establish a personnel department.
Professional Golf Career
In 1980, Chuck pursued his childhood dream of playing professional golf. He competed in more than 250 tournaments worldwide, including events on South Africa’s Sunshine Tour.
Dual Careers
During golf’s off-seasons, Chuck continued working in accounting and technology. He provided bookkeeping and tax services and installed personal computers and Peachtree accounting software for golf facilities and other businesses.
In 1992, he retired from professional golf and focused full-time on the business. It grew into a one-stop accounting and technology firm serving more than 400 customers.
QuickBooks Data Access and Custom Reporting
In 2001, when Intuit introduced the QuickBooks SDK, Chuck began working directly with QuickBooks data access. He partnered with the developers of the QODBC driver to improve its reporting capabilities and deliver custom reporting solutions for QuickBooks users.
As part of that partnership, Chuck worked closely with QODBC chief engineer Matt Froncek to improve the driver and ensure reliable compatibility with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports. Matt later became QQube’s Chief Engineer.
Chuck became known as the grandfather of Crystal Reports for QuickBooks because of his early work connecting QuickBooks data with Crystal Reports. Intuit engineers later called him “Mother Nature” for his knowledge of QuickBooks data extraction.
In April 2006, Chuck renamed the business ACCOUNTiGRATE and expanded its focus on QuickBooks custom reporting and integration. ACCOUNTiGRATE was also a charter QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions VAR.
Work with Intuit
In 2006, Intuit contracted Chuck as the only outside accounting technologist to work directly with the QuickBooks database. He helped develop Intuit’s former Business Analysis product and contributed to the QuickBooks Custom Reporting implementation
CLEARIFY and QQube
In 2010, Chuck established CLEARIFY to focus on QuickBooks reporting, analytics, and data visualization. That same year, CLEARIFY introduced QQube, the first and only complete public data warehouse for QuickBooks.
Matt Froncek joined CLEARIFY as Chief Engineer and worked with Chuck to develop and expand QQube’s data models, reporting examples, and calculations.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and public administration from the University of Hartford and a Master of Education degree from the University of North Texas.
Current Work
Chuck now focuses on expanding QQube, mentoring the next generation, and applying his accounting, technology, and reporting experience to continued product development.
Matt Froncek
Chief Engineer, QQube
Engineering Leadership
Matt Froncek brought decades of software-development experience to QQube. He designed major portions of its application framework, data-extraction engine, and usability components. His earlier work on QODBC also gave him extensive experience with QuickBooks data access and reporting.
Early Programming Experience
Matt began programming while still in high school. He taught himself assembly language on a Radio Shack TRS-80 and helped his father keypunch COBOL programs.
While studying electrical engineering at Arizona State University, he became increasingly interested in computer programming. A part-time FORTRAN programming position led him to pursue software development as a full-time career.
DataFlex and Business Software
Matt began his professional programming career at a medical billing and claims-processing center using DataFlex, a fourth-generation programming language with an integrated PC database.
He later led the local DataFlex users group. His technical and organizational work attracted the attention of America West Vacations, which hired him to resolve problems with its vacation-reservation system.
Matt then joined Software Services Group, where he developed custom inventory and accounting applications. He later partnered with Flexquarters and helped create several DataFlex products, including DataFlex for Btrieve, Flextrieve, and a DataFlex ODBC driver.
QODBC Development
After Intuit released the QuickBooks SDK in 2001, Flexquarters commissioned Matt to develop the QODBC driver for QuickBooks. In 2006, QODBC began shipping with QuickBooks Enterprise and has remained included with the product.
During this period, Matt also expanded his Visual Basic experience. He developed a document-imaging and records-management system with barcode tracking for Records Management Automation Group, a subsidiary of Smead Manufacturing.
The Move to QQube
In 2010, Matt joined Chuck Vigeant at CLEARIFY to create QQube, the complete public data warehouse for QuickBooks.
Matt developed the application framework around Chuck’s accounting and QuickBooks database logic. His work included the data-extraction engine, Configuration Tool, Excel Add-In, and other usability components.
His extensive software-engineering experience helped make QQube stable, efficient, and practical for long-term QuickBooks reporting.
